Show changed to 6 foot spacing!

Attention:

This year's field show for marching band has just been changed to a 3-step interval (spacing) all around!

* 6 feet is 3.2 steps, so we're  at just about 5 and 3/4 feet apart!

The OMEA (Ohio Music Educator's Association AND the CHS Marching Band Staff "strongly" recommend getting together a special "light"cloth mask (probably homemade) with a "mouthpiece slit" cut in it.  It is recommended for both outside (because you're moving-around) as well as indoor use.  Whenever not playing the instrument it is a good idea to to keep nose and mouth covered.

While "Across-the-Board" guidelines and regulations have been given by the school administration, the band has been given permission (because what we do is so much different than anything else) to employ further recommendations for student safety.

NOTE:  The OMEA had recently contracted a scientific study dealing with the effect of playing in band indoors and out on the amount of particles that "build-up" around a student.  They concluded that after a 30 minute class the amount of air particles was drastically increased.  That is the reason for our strong mask recommendation to you (especially indoors).  We'll attempt to post the study [complete with diagrams, videos, etc...] on the Centerburg Music Facebook ASAP!

Finally, the marching band is looking in to ordering all marchers face masks with the school logo on them.  This is not a definite, but we're looking into the cost factor.  We all know how HOT band camp can be and we are are, by no means, asking students to be uncomfortable or be put in a situation where it may be difficult to breathe!  We're simply giving you ideas about safety that we've received through various sources including the administration, OMEA and Knox County Health Department.

Hope this helps! 👍
