New Member Band Camp Check-In...

We're doing things a bit differently this year.  Below please find the "Newbie" Orientation Day Check-In Process for tomorrow, July 27th:

12:45 PM - Registration table opens just outside of the Auditorium EntrancePlease NO NOT go to the band room!  YOU DO NOT NEED AN INSTRUMENT!

a)  We'll have 2 lines.  Please be sure to wear a mask when checking-in and remain 6' behind the band member in front of you.

b)  We'll make sure you've turned-in all your forms ( Emergency Medical Form, Equipment Form and Permission Form as well as the school district's COVID-19 Waiver FormWe cannot let band members participate who have not tuned in both the EMF and the COVID Forms.

c)  Band members will be given a manila folder containing their instrument part, show music and drill.   When they return to school for their sectional work later in the week they should bring along the following:
                         1.  3-Ring Binder with plastic sleeves.
                         2.  a pencil or pen
                         3.  a highlighter (whatever color they'd like)
                         4.  a personal water bottle (with water in it) and a towel
                         5.  Sunscreen
                         6.  Shorts, t-shirt and either tennis shoes or supportive sneakers ( no sandals)
                         7.  Baseball cap (or similar) is suggested.

d)  As soon as band members check-in they'll be asked to find a "dot" marked on the lawn.  The dots are 4 steps (or about 7.5 feet) apart.  When they are there they "may" remove their protective masks!  (Feel free to either sit or stand.  I'd probably sit!

e). During the band camp weeks students may not congregate, huddle-up, hug, whisper things to each other, touch another's music stand or instrument or get any closer to another band member than 3 feet!  This is gonna be tough!

f)  As per the new guidelines by the Knox County Health Department bands may not go into schools unless needing to use the facilities or obtain/put away their instruments.  Rain?  We're working on that one and will update everybody ASAP!

Remember:  "Newbie" Orientation is for ALL incoming Freshmen as well as ALL younger marchers - EVEN IF YOU MARCHED LAST YEAR!

See ya tomorrow!   Go Band! 👍
