Centerburg Music Department

Attention: All Knox County Honor Band Students... The next and final rehearsal of the Knox County Honor Bands (both high school and middle school) will be on Tuesday, April 7th from 8:00 AM until 2:30 PM at the Memorial Theater in Mount Vernon.  The bus will leave at 7:15 AM from Centerburg High/Middle School, so be sure to have your permission slip in to Mr. Dettmar and be on time!  Lunch will be provided!  Parents/Guardians will need to transport their own child to the concert at the Memorial Theater that same evening.  Report time for band members is 6:30 PM and the performance attire is black and white.  Please refer to the hand-out previously distributed for further details.

Fall Music Trip Registrations due by Wednesday March 25th! All high school Fall Music Trip registrations are due by Wednesday, March 25th!  This information is necessary at this point to determine the financial aspect of the trip.  Items such as hotels, busses, food, etc...must be reserved far in advance of the October 3rd departure.  In addition, in order to place a exact cost per student on the trip we need to know how many students plan on attending.  If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact Mr. Dettmar or Mrs. Culbertson to discuss.  If we do not receive your trip registration by Wednesday we will assume you will not be attending, and will begin our travel plans accordingly!

Middle School Band and Choir prepare for OMEA Large Group Adjudication The Centerburg Middle School 7th and 8th Grade Band and Choir will be participating in the OMEA District 10 Large Group Adjudication on Friday, May 8th at Big Walnut High School.  Information sheets have been distributed to students to take home to their families.   Students should be checking and re-arranging their schedules in order to participate in these very important performances.  Spectators are welcome and concessions are available.  At this point bands and choirs are still registering for this event.  Exact performance times will not be posted until a couple of weeks prior to the event.  Any student with a possible schedule conflict should see their director as soon as possible so they are able to request certain times and/or plan ahead. 

Way to go Band and Choir on your performances for the Ohio Music Educators Association's Large Group Adjudication!! The Band performed in Class A and received a II. The Choir performed in Class C and received a II. The students worked very hard to prepare their music for the three judges. They also did well in the sight reading room where they read a brand new piece of music for the first time in front of a judge. We are so proud of our students!!

The Centerburg Music Department will once again be hosting the Ohio Music Education Association Large Group Contest on March 13 and 14. Friday contest begins right after school. All instruments and choir uniforms need to go to Mrs. Allen's room as soon as school lets out. Students will not be allowed into the music hallway for any reason during contest.  Concert choir is the first to perform at 4:00 Friday.  Concert band is last to perform Saturday at 4:20.  We still need volunteers to help out as ambassadors to the groups (escorting them around the school) and as judges assistants. From 3:30-10:15 Friday and 8:00-5:00 Saturday.  We will need help from parents and students to help transport supplies from a few schools in the area. If you have a truck or the ability to pull the band trailer, please contact Mr. Dettmar.
