DCI Drum Corp Experience Offered This Summer!

Save the date... Sunday, June 28th, 2015 DCI Drum Corp Show at Bowling Green State University $17 per participant ( students and parents welcome to attend) Bus departs CHS at 4:15 PM Show begins at 7:00 PM Return time approx.   10:30 PM ALL Marching Band members encouraged to attend! Trip registrations will be the 3rd week of may!  Check back for more details.  This trip is sponsored by the Trojan Pride Marching Band Staff.

Middle School Band and Choir Large Group Next Week!

On Friday, May 8, the 7/8 grade choir and band will be participating in OMEA Large Group Adjudication. At the event, the ensembles will perform for three judges (other music teachers from Ohio) and then will have a time of one on one rehearsal with one of those adjudicators. The event takes place at Big Walnut High School. The band will perform in the auditorium and the choir will perform in the gym. Friends and family are encouraged to come out and support the ensembles as they perform. At the performance no photography or video are permitted, with the penalty of disqualification. If you do come out to watch, we recommend getting there early as the doors are closed and cannot be opened for the duration of the performance. Trojan Pride Band Welcomes LeRon Carlton

We are pleased to announce the addition of a new adjunct member to our marching band staff.  LeRon Carlton of Columbus will be working with the drum line during the weeks of "mini" camp and the main band camp.  In addition  to working with the Trojan Pride Band, Mr. Carlton also serves as drum instructor for the Mt. Vernon Yellowjacket band under the direction of Mr. Andrew Sundman.  He performs extensively in the U.S. Army bands as a percussionist, and is currently the Assistant Director and Percussion Battery Caption Head for the Columbus Saints DCI Drum and Bugle Corp in Columbus, Ohio.  We welcome Mr. Carlton along with his years of marching experience!

Concerts to host Bake Sales

All three Spring concerts will host bake sales this season.  Proceeds from which will go to next year's middle and high school bands and choirs in hopes of providing some financial assistance toward ALL  future endeavors of the music department.  Please see particulars below and Thanks for your support! 1)  Students may drop off their baked goods to either the band or choir rooms anytime during the day of the concert OR bring them directly to the bake sale table in the lobby when they report to warm-up on the evening of their concert. 2)  It would be most helpful if baked goods were packaged in baggies, making it easier and less messy to handle. 3)  These bake sales can really help defray the cost of next year's middle school and high school activities if everyone "chips-in" just a little bit!

2015 Marching Band Schedule

Here is the official 2015 Trojan Pride Marching Band Schedule: JUNE: Parade Practice Thursday, June 25th - 10:00AM -12:00 Noon Friday, June 26th - 10:00AM -12:00 Noon Saturday, June 27th - 9:00AM-1:00 PM ( 4th of July Parade and Park Performance) ( Attire for the parade will be khakis and band polos)   Polos for our new members will be distributed at the June 25th practice! August: Mini Camp  - (Includes all woodwinds , brass ,   and " pit" percussion.) Monday, August 10th - Friday August 14th -   9:00AM - 12:00PM                               Drum Line............................6:00 PM -  8:00 PM  (only!) A ll orange Release and Medical forms for the October 3rd-6th band and choir trip are due no later than Friday, April 17th .  Students who were NOT present at the requested Thursday or Friday evening trip information meetings MUST see either Mr. Dettmar or Mrs. Culbertson as soon as possible to go over information!  Please check the CENTERBURG MUSIC BLOG a couple times a week as we will continuously post new items of importance for both the remainder of the school year and about the fall trip! 2015 Marching Band Music Distribution

Attention all 2015 Trojan Pride Marching Band Members... Next Friday, April 17th, during the period 5 band class next year's field show music will be distributed to all band members.  Any incoming 8th graders who are marching should plan on attending this meeting during their lunch time (I suggest bringing a bag lunch on that day and bringing it to the meeting).   There will be several rehearsals (during period 5) of the marching band music before the end of the school year in the hopes that band members will gain an understanding of their part before being turned-loose to practice on their own over the summer months.

Trip Meeting Reminder...

This is just a reminder to all band and choir students participating in the fall trip (Oct. 3-6) that you need to be present (along with 1 parent/guardian) at one of the two planned trip meetings.  Meetings are scheduled for tonight, Thursday, April 9th and Friday, April 10th at 7 PM.  Itinerary will be reviewed, student costs discussed and permission/health forms and payment envelopes distributed.
