March 30th Updates...

Greetings all Awesome Music people!

We hope all is going well with you and your families, and that you're staying on top of things and not becoming overwhelmed.  Feel free to shoot Mr. D. an e-mail just to say yo or whatever.  We're thinking of all of you and look forward to seeing you all soon!

The remainder of the school year:  At this point we are supposed to return to school after May 1st.  That is the plan and we've heard nothing other than that!  Only time will tell as to what future plans are in store for us!

Music Department Activities:  All music activities currently schedules "after" the "planned" May 1st return to school are a "GO" at this point.  Again, only time will tell as to what transpires between now and then.  We'll obviously keep you updated!

Band & Music-Related Class Assignments in the future:  Some changes will be made to the process in which students receive instruction and are graded "IF" we continue to be home-schooled after the proposed May 1st return to school.  We'll want to get the new marching band music out to the band members so they can begin practicing it for the upcoming season, and band students will need to get their flip folios so they can practice parade music for Memorial Day and the USA Days Parade in June.  We'll keep you updated on all of that! 👍

Middle School Band Assignments:  IMPORTANT "IF" we do not return to school in a timely manner after the May 1st we will suspend the current process of recording and either attaching or e-mailing musical examples.  There will, however, be other types of assignments in it's place!  While many students were right on top of it and found it easy, there were some who we never heard from in any way... making it impossible to assign a grade or monitor progress.  Again, we'll keep you updated as to what we'll be doing!   👍

Marching Band-Related Stuff:  IMPORTANT!  Please read! -  We need to plan ahead a little bit here as it may be a bit more difficult for many of us financially - especially going in to the summer.  Bottom line, however, is that if we don't have the funds we (the music department) need to survive the season we won't be able to order items such as uniform dry cleanings, marching band drill and design, new flip folios, new stands music, etc... We "hope" to still have our annual marching band meeting on Thursday, April 23rd but to be honest, it doesn't look promising.  In the case that we cannot meet to get things organized Mr. D. will send-out a mailer to all marching band member's homes over the Spring break.  The cover letter will include explicit directions as this is a rather peculiar year in many ways.  We will "attempt" to offer things such as deferred fee payments, allowing those families having a difficult time the opportunity to "keep their kids in band" while continuing to survive financially!  I'll be speaking to the music boosters presently in the hopes of coming-up with a way to off-set/delay finances to keep us going!  It's cool 😎 We're on it!!
