Happy New Year!

 Happy New Year to all our music students and their families!!!

Well, we're gonna dig right in, so here goes...

Announcements:

1)  Marching Band Drum Line Nights will begin this Thursday, Jan. 5th from 6:00 - 8:00 and will occur every Thursday from now on.  ALL percussion students are asked to attend, but especially those going on the St. Patrick's Day Parade Trip as we'll be learning new street cadences as well as all the music.  Pit members must also be present as both the crash cymbal and marching bells parts will need to be learned!  Once the parade is over we'll immediately start up on next season's marching music.  

1)  OMEA Solo/Ensemble Adjudications are scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 28th (transportation is provided, and parents and families are invited to attend performances!  The boosters have gone ahead and paid all the entrance fees in advance, but ALL solo participants are required to pay the $20 fee (checks made payable to the Centerburg Music Boosters) ASAP!

2)  Jazz Band will resume practices on Monday, Jan. 9th at 7 PM.  Performances so far will include the OSU Jazz Day on March 25th and the CHS Jazz Festival on April 14th.  Other performances may be added as they come-up.  Please mark your calendars!

3)  Drum Major Wannabees... By now, those students who wish to try-out for drum major should have seen Mr. D.  After school seminars will begin the end of January, and try-outs will be finished "before" the St. Patrick's Trip.  Please remember that all new drum majors are required to attend either the DMA (Drum Major Academy) or the "Music for All" Summer Music Symposium sponsored by Yamaha.  The boosters will reimburse approximately one third of the cost of the camp!

4)  Marching Band Parade Practices:  Are now being organized to prepare for the St. Patrick's Day Parade.  We are currently discussing when the practices will take place, but will try to choose times that have little or no conflict with other athletic or school-sponsored events.  These practices will take place outside or the school day and will begin in February.  We'll keep you updated!
