Weekly Update: 11/4 - 11/8, 2019

Happy Monday!

Marching Band:  Hope you all kept warm on Friday night!   It was actually a good show!  Congrats!

*  There are no more marching band practices this fall.  Thanks for a super season!

*  I'm waiting to hear from the athletic director about any play-off games we "might" need to attend.  "IF" we do, we'll only serve as a pep band - NO HALFTIME PERFORMANCES!

Last Marching Band Grade:  Band members... flip folios and DOTS are be turned-in to Mr. D by this Friday, Nov. 8thYou MUST write your name on the back of your flip book on masking tape!  This is a 10 point grade for the flip book and a 5 point grade for the DOTS.  DOTS must be in a plastic bag with your name on the front on masking tape!

Jazz BandWill continue to practice on Monday evenings from 7:00 - 8:30 PM!

Indoor Percussion:    Are doing more and more each week, getting ready to put-on some indoor percussion performances after the new year, as well attend (not perform at)  at least one indoor winter percussion competition!  Practices go from 6:00 - 7:00 PM every Monday night until Thanksgiving and then 5:30 - 7:00 begining the Monday after Thanksgiving We hope to perform for some home basketball games too!

H.S. Concert Band Chair placement Tests:  Recordings are due on GOOGLE CLASSROOM no later than Friday, November 15th!!  Our Winter Concert is slated for December 18th!

Middle School Bands

*  All Music Department Polo Shirts have been distributed.  We had to send some back and re-order due to some sizing issues.  Please be patient!  "IF" your child did not receive one it is because they have not turned-in their $20 payment (checks made payable to the Centerburg Music Boosters).  When they pay for their shirt they will receive it.  Shirts are to be worn in all performances and concerts along with either black slacks or skirt with black Shoes. NOT being in uniform WILL affect the student's concert grade!

Weekly playing examples for 6th and 7th grade band students continue.  Students are assigned 2 examples from their method book each week to practice, record and post on the band's GOOGLE CLASSROOM page.  This activity is worth a 10 point grade each and every week.  "IF" students are absolutely unable to figure-out how to attach their recordings to CLASSROOM they may either send them as an e-mail attachment (preferably not) or play them live for me granted there is free time available.  Parents... PLEASE keep-up with and monitor your child's home practicing!

Buckeye Making: Please don't forget what time you and your child signed-up to halp make the buckeyes!  The weekend of November 15th, 16th and 17th marks the date!!

Bands of America National Finals & Dr. Tim Clinic Trip:  The bus will leave at 12 Noon on Friday, Nov. 15th.  All participants should meet in the band area by 11:45 AM.   I  s scheduled for next Friday and Saturday, November 15th and 16th.  Juniors and Seniors attending should meet in the band area by 11:45 AM.  The bus leaves at 12 Noon!

King's Island Music Festival and Competition:  We are currently looking at our calendars to determine the best date for this year's 7th and 8th grade band and choir trip to Kings Island and will keep you updated!  This is a band and choir competition, and is the ONE (1) day of the year where we absolutely need everyone  in attendance.  We are judged by 3 professors of music and are given ratings and placements for our performances.  Having band or choir members absent affects our ability to score high in the festival.  IF your child is also involved in other Saturday activities in May we ask you to PLEASE plan ahead and speak to their coach, advisor or leader so they may plan ahead for JUST THAT ONE DAY!!  There may be 20 baseball games but only ONE (1) Music Competition.  They're part of "OUR TEAM" and are needed on this day.  Thanks!!!
