Top News of The Day...
The "Music Booster Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser" is slated for this Thursday, Jan. 26th from 6:00-8:00 PM. Come one, come all! Enjoy some wonderful food and be entertained by some of our talented students. The cost is only $5 per person and includes, spaghetti, meatballs, salad, breadsticks and drinks. Homemade doughnuts are also available for an additional charge. All funds collected go to support the Centerburg Music Program! See you there!
6th Grade Band: Students are responsible for practicing their method book exercises each and every week and either recording them onto Google Classroom or performing them live each week. Each exercise is worth 10 points, and is weighted the same as one week's worth of class participation.
7th and 8th Grade Bands: Students, in addition to working diligently on their band music, need to check in with Google Classroom on a bi-weekly basis to see what exercises or examples are required of them. Performances "should" be recorded and attached to Google Classroom, but may also be performed "live" as well. Playing examples are worth 10 points every 2 weeks toward the marking period grade.
Pep Band: We have 2 games this week. One on Wednesday, Jan. 24th and one on Friday, Jan. 27th. Please mark your calendar!
OMEA Solo & Ensemble Participants: This coming Saturday is Solo/Ensemble at Granville High School. Since our first performance is at 8:10 AM the bus will leave school at 7:00 AM. Please see Mrs. Culbertson or Mr. Dettmar if you will NOT be riding the bus, or if you will be picked-up by your parents at Granville HS before the end of the day. We need to know A) who will be with us on the bus both ways and B) who will NOT be riding the bus there or leaving early. Please remember that students are only released into the custody of parents.
"Mandatory" OMEA Solo / Ensemble Practice and Coaching: is scheduled tonight, Monday, Jan. 23rd, from 7:00 - 9:00 PM in the music area. Mr. D. will coach all INSTRUMENTAL ensembles and the accompanist will work with all soloists. This is preparation for both the perfromances on Saturday as well as the performances at the spaghetti dinner this Thursday! We will also have an organizational meeting at the beginning of the practice!
FINALLY... "Preliminary" band registrations are currently underway in band classes for next year. Students will soon have the opportunity to elect their courses for next school year. We (the band staff) hope you make band one of them!!!
