Happy Vacae!

Happy Holidays Everyone!

Congrats to the high school, elementary and 6th grade bands, choirs and Orff Ensemble for some super-dee-duper holiday concert performances!

Please don't forget that the 7th and 8th grade band and choir concert is tonight; (Tuesday, Dec. 20th)  Students should arrive by 6:30 PM and PLEASE bring-in a baked good for our annual holiday bake sale!

High School Band:  PLEASE remember that your performance tests are due on Google Classroom BY Friday, Jan 6th.  Please don't wait 'till the last minute.  Do it NOW!  You must see the High School Band Google Classroom page to register and view the assignment!  ( Scale sheets and sight-reading has already been distributed ). While you should try to record your playing test either as an audio or a video and attach it to Google Classroom, I can hear you play "live" if you'd like.  If that is the case, you will need to let me know when you will come to the band office to be heard! Thanks!!!

OMEA Solo and Ensemble Participants:  You really need to work on your solos and/or ensemble music over the break!  We can help you during period 9 on Mondays in January, but that will not provide substantial enough time for you to learn your material.  Solo and Ensemble Adjudications are on Saturday, January 28th at Granville H.S. - times TBA!  We will provide you with transportation!

Fundraiser Spaghetti Dinner:  is slated for January 26th!  More info. to follow!  While dining, you'll be entertained by some of our talented high school students who will be performing their solo and ensemble music.  This is a "major fundraiser" for all music students and their families!

7th and 8th Grade Band Students and Parents:  As a heads-up, beginning the first week of second semester all band students in grades 7 and 8 will need to prepare 1-2 technical exercises every 2 weeks for a grade ( 10 pts.)  This helps us to monitor progress on a much more individual level!  Assignments will be posted each week on Google Classroom, and exercises are to be recorded as either an audio or video and attached to Google Classroom for review and comments.   Students who do not have access to "recording" their exercises via computer or phone may perform them live in the band office on selected Fridays during the first 10 minutes of band class.  These are not quizzes or tests, only graded exercises!  Relax - it's going to make you a better player!!!

Have a nice vacation everyone!!!
