Middle School Band and Choir Large Group Next Week!
On Friday, May 8, the 7/8 grade choir and band will be participating in OMEA Large Group Adjudication. At the event, the ensembles will perform for three judges (other music teachers from Ohio) and then will have a time of one on one rehearsal with one of those adjudicators.
The event takes place at Big Walnut High School. The band will perform in the auditorium and the choir will perform in the gym. Friends and family are encouraged to come out and support the ensembles as they perform. At the performance no photography or video are permitted, with the penalty of disqualification. If you do come out to watch, we recommend getting there early as the doors are closed and cannot be opened for the duration of the performance.
The schedule for that evening is as follows:
MAY 8, 2015
6:30 meet at the school to load busses
6:45 busses depart for Big Walnut High School
7:10 arrive at the school
7:40 7/8 Choir performs in the Gym
8:50 7/8 Band performs in the Auditorium
Once the performance is over we will meet in the homeroom and then load the busses and head home.
Students are permitted to ride home with a parent.
The Big Walnut Music Boosters will have concessions available for purchase in the cafeteria for students.
This is a wonderful experience for our middle school ensembles. It has given them a goal to work toward these past few weeks and has caused them to raise the bar on their performance instead of starting the slow fade that usually happens at the end of the school year. We have been very pleased with the progress both ensembles have made and can't wait to share this experience with them.
Students should have brought home an orange permission slip/schedule to be signed and returned. Please make sure it gets back to Mr. Dettmar or Mrs. Culbertson.
