Announcements: Week of December 8-12, 2025

  Announcements:  🎄     Congratulations to Claire Hill, Logan Brison, Seth Osborne-Churchill, Aiden Parks, Kiley Frye and James Campbell for an outstanding performance yesterday afternoon as part of this year's OMEA (Ohio Music Education Association) District X Honor Band.  The concert was held in the RR Hodges Chapel Auditorium at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.  Kudos to all! ATTENTION:  To all of this year's OWU (Ohio Weleyan University Honor Band Applicants ...You "should" have been notified by Dr. Edwards regarding your standing in the nomination process by now.  Mr. D. also shot you an email letting you know of your current standing.  Please keep up with the online registration process as if you are even one iota of a minute late, your seat will go to someone else! Week of November 10th - 14th

This Week in Music... Thursday :   After School Indoor Percussion 3:15 - 4:45 PM (unless otherwise advised) Thursday :   Upperclassmen Trip to Bands of America Grand National Championships - Report to band room after school.  Bus leaves at 3:30 PM. Friday :  Marching Band (on the field) Practice from 3:15 - 4:30 PM followed by trailer loading, dinner and suiting-up.  Report to the elementary at 6:15 PM. We will march into the field at 6:35 PM but will do a modified pregame .  * The home game begins at 7:00 PM OMEA Distict X Honor Band People:   Additional Honor Band Information has been emailed to you.  Please look it over.  Middle School Honor Band students have already received their music and high school music will be distributed on Monday during the symphonic band period.

Week of Nov. 3rd - 7th

  In Band This Week... Congratulations to Claire Hill, Seth Osborne-Churchill and Logan Brison for being accepted through audition to this year's Ohio Music Education Association District X High School Honor Band! ANNOUNCEMENT #1 :   Attention all current marching members and families ...  This Friday, Nov. 7th, we will be hosting a first round of OHSAA football.   There will be marching band practice from 3:15 - 4:30 PM this coming Friday, and all marching band members are required to attend both the rehearsal and the game.  Our season goes as long as the team keeps winning! ANNOUNCEMENT #2 :   All permission slips and trip Payments for the upcoming Bands of America trip next Thursday, Nov. 13th and 14th were due last week.  If you have not submitted yours please do so now. ANNOUNCEMENT #3 :   A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all the music students who helped to sell Buckeyes this season.  Every little bit helps our program! ANNOUNCEMENT #4...

Week of October 27th - 31st Announcements...

  Music Department Announcements: #1  Buckeye Candy Fundraising forms were distributed to all music students about a week ago and all students " should " have brought one home for their families!  This is our one "MAJOR" fundraiser for the year.  So many students participate and at least sell "a" box to their Mom and Dad, some sell hundreds of boxes and unfortunately some don't participate at all.  Please ask your child about the Buckeye Candy order form , purchase some for your own family and pass the word around.  These things literally sell themselves if someone knows you are selling them! #2  Congratulations to the Trojan Pride Marching Band for an absolutely " Knockout " season.  It was a pleasure working with all of you this year, and am already looking forward to next season.  It's gonna be a blast!!   The marching band banquet will most likely take place just after the Thanksgiving recess.  We'll keep you posted ! #3...

Marching Band: Week of October 20th - 24th

  Congratulations to the Trojan Pride Marching Band for an absolutely stellar performance at the Xenia "Last Blast" Marching Band Festival this past Saturday evening!  We (the staff) could not have asked for more from you.  The band has truly gone to a new level.  Kudos to all! Getting Ready for Senior Night!!

  Senior Night Week! Tuesday :  Drum Line Practice 3:00 - 4:30 Band Room (Senior Shoe Music) Wednesday : Marching Band Practice :  6:00 - 8:30 PM (Senior Show) Thursday :  Marching Band Practice :  3:15 - 4:45 PM  (Senior Show) Friday :   Teacher in -service day:  Marching Band Practice :  3:00 - 4:30 PM (Senior Show and Pre-Game) ATTENTION:   Upper Classmen and Student Leaders....you must register for the BOA Trip to Indianapolis by 12:00 Noon on Monday.    Reminder:  Our final Band Festival is on Saturday, Oct. 18th in Xenia .  The buses will pull out at 2:30 PM and band members report time to the band room will be 1:30 PM .

Homecoming Week Activities/Schedule

  Homecoming Week: Wednesday:   Homecoming Parade:  All marching band members report to the band room BY 5:30 PM.   The Homecoming Parade begins in the bus pick-up / drop-off area at 6 PM!  Please wear your Band Polos!  NO EVENING BAND PRACTICE ! Thursday:   Last after school marching band practice ( This is a big one so if you usually attend your after school athletic practice please try to ask your coach to be excused) .  We want the Homecoming Show to be a big one + we're performing the entire festival show, not just the football show! Friday:  3:15 - 4:00:  Run through of the Pre-Game Show ONLY !  ON THE FIELD.  This is also the 7th Grade Band Night so please help us by guiding them in the right direction, and by letting them share your flip books in the stands!  We'll bring a rack of black music stands so you can all share with the younger kids!  Be yourselves, but don't get overly crazy...we don't want to "s...

This week in Marching Band... Wednesday :  Full Ensemble rehearsal from 6:00 - 8:30 PM. ( Everyone please bring your hat and jacket to the practice !) Thursday:   Full Ensemble reahearsal from 3:15 - 4:45 PM ( yes, you'll need your hats and jackets again!) Friday:   Full Ensemble rehearsal from 3:15 - 4:30 PM, followed by trailer loading, band dinner and suiting-up.  (We will mainly practice the pre-game in this rehearsal + a "run" of the "football show", i.e., no pre-show or props.) Marching Band Logistics: Week of September 8th-13th

This week's Marching Band Logistics and Info... Wednesday:  6:00 - 9:00 PM - Marching Band Practice Thursday:  3:15 - 4:45 PM - Marching Band Practice Friday:  3:15 - 4:30 PM - Marching Band Practice, followed by trailer loading, band dinner, shoe and instrument polishing and suiting-up. (away game) Saturday:  Mt. Vernon High School Band Show - Band member report time to the practice field is 4PM , followed by trailer loading and shoe and instrument shining.  The bus will leave CHS at 5:30 PM and the Mt. Vernon Show begins at 7:00 PM .  Tickets are available at the gate for $8. Next Saturday :   New Albany Marching Band Festival @ 7:00 PM. (Student report time to be 4:00 PM and buses will leave at 5:00 PM.) The Final Marching Band Show  is at Xenia High School on Saturday, October 18th:   Times TBA. Great 1st Show!!

Congratulations to the Marching Band... Congrats for a great first performance!  Please be sure to review your UDB and go over both the music and drill for part 3 as we will be learning it this Wednesday evening! *  Just a reminder about attendance ... We're beginning to get last minute surprises about band members not being able to be at some Wednesday evening rehearsals.  PLEASE..... unless you have an approved " school-sanctioned " athletic competition, do not miss Wednesday evening band practices.  This is the only time we introduce and learn new material.  If you are absent it throws everyone off when you return and don't know what was taught!  All fall athletic schedules were due in the band office by the 1st day of band camp on July 21st .   That way we are able to plan our rehearsals efficiently. Thanks for your cooperation!!  😀
  More Marching Band Reminders... #1. This week begins our Fall Practice Schedule .  Practices are:  Wednesdays from 6:00 - 9:00 PM and Thursdays from 3:15 - 5:00 PM #2. Fridays there is band practice from 3:15-4:30 PM followed by trailer loading, band dinner, and suiting-up for the performances. #3  Proper Marching Band Practice attire :  Shorts, t shirts and sneakers.  No long pants, boots, crocs, etc...  All our teams change and dress appropriately for their practices...and we're no different. #4 Just a reminder that all students registered for the HS Band class and required to participate in marching band.. .unless they have received special permission from the administration due to an illness or major scheduling conflict.  Marching band is part of the band curriculum and is not an extra-curricular activity. #5 1st Home game against Utica this Friday...Polos and khakis!!! Marching Band Reminders!

  Welcome back everyone! Just a reminder that we have marching band practice (full Ensemble) this coming Wednesday and Thursday evening from 6-8 PM .  Attendance is mandatory.  All brass and woodwind players will need to be sure they have a LYRE for their instrument for this Thursday as we will be doing the pre-game and you'll need your flip folder attached to your instrument.    Lyres are available at most music stores...BUT are peculiar to the make and model of the instrument.  They ARE NOT a one-size-fits-all thingy! Next week we begin our Wednesday evening and Thursday afternoon band practices.  There will most likely also be some sectional rehearsals as needed, but we will reveal those to you once we can meet as a band staff to determine the times. NOTE:   "IF" you are a fall athlete then, as usual and as it has been done for 25 years, you should be willing to miss one after school athletic practice per week to attend Thursday afternoon ba...

 Greetings to all our wonderful TPMB Members and their families! I hope your summer has been fun so far and you've had time to relax and unwind  from the end of the school year!  Thanks to all of you who participated in both the Memorial Day Parade Ceremony AND the USA Days Parade.  A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Teschler and Mr. Lunder for stepping up to the Plate to take charge for the USA Days Parade.  I have literally been all over the country for over a month, and as I write this, am still 1500 miles from Centerburg....but thinking about you nonetheless! Tentative Band Camp Schedule 2025

  Tentative Band Camp Schedule : Hello all band members and families... While we have all the band camp dates set as per on the music website, we are still ironing out a few schedules and will let you know the final one as soon as possible.  We have a number of instructors...all of which work full time jobs and/or attend college classes during the summer.  We need to schedule the kids for when the instructors can also be present...to teach.  We should have this in place by the weekend and will post it, update it and shoot it out there to everyone as soon as we can!  Please see what we currently do have in place (below)... Band Camp Week #1   (July 21st - 25th) Monday :   9AM - 12 Noon - Student Leadership Training, 1PM - 4PM - New Member Orientation (includes ALL incoming 8th and 9th graders). Marching Band Field Trips offered in August!

Attention all TPMB Members and Families... 👀 The band staff will be offering 2 marching band field trips during the week following band camp this season.  The first one is a FREEBIE and will take place on the afternoon of Sunday, August 3rd.  It will be a trip out to West Holmes High School to watch a rehearsal of the Phantom Regiment , one of the corps that we'll see in competition the very next night in Canton.  The 2nd trip is on Monday, August 4th to the "Innovations in Brass" Drum Corps Show at the Football Hall of Fame in Canton and the student cost will be $25 per ticket .  We will send the registrations and permission slips out via Google Classroom / email so please look for them within a week and a half or so! Tuesday, May 6th:   Elementary Music, 6th Grade Band and Middle and High School Band Concert 7:00 PM.  ALL Band members should wear their red music polos with black slacks or skirts.  Student report times are below: 6th Grade band:  6:45 Report time to the choir room 7th/8th Concert Band AND HS Symphonic Band 7:00 Report time to the band room. Annual Marching Band Parent Meeting

 Annual Marching Band Parent Meeting The Annual Marching Band Parent Meeting will take place in the CHS Band Room at 6:15 PM on Wednesday, May 14th .  This will be just prior to the last marching band brass and woodwinds rehearsal which begins at 7 PM.  We are asking that at least 1 parent attend the meeting, and we will need to have a sign-in sheet, as we want to be sure that everyone receives the information.  "IF", by chance, we don't see you at the meeting then you will be contacted so we can find time to go over everything in either a phone conversation or a live parent/teacher meeting in the band office. Why?   While nothing about marching band is "difficult", it can be a lot to take in, especially for parents of first-timers ("Newbies") and can be confusing.  We want to, therefore, give you all the logistical information as well as an overview of how things work and what is expected of your young band member.  Looking forward to a super season!...

  This Week: 👀 Thank you to all the jazz band members and other band students who participated in this past Friday Evening's "Jumbalaya Jam" Jazz Festival.  Everything went smoothly and we had a blast...not to mention some super Jumbalaya.  Thank You also to all those CMS and CHS families who donated dessert items and cornbread for the occasion!    Special thanks to all the parents who collected entrance fees, made the Jumbalaya, set-up, cleaned up etc...Without you we could not be what we are!  Kudos to all...! Big Week.......Lots of Info!!

  Week of March 17th - 21st... Universal Florida Trip Student and Parent Info:  Is all available on the "Universal" Google Classroom .  Paper copies of the itinerary and packing lists have also been distributed to students, and more are sitting on the band room piano if needed! Monday, 3/17:  Happy St. Patrick's Day!!  The Middle School Jazz Band will practice from 3:15 to 4:00 PM and the High School Jazz Band will practice from 7:00 - 8:30 PM.   This week in music... *   Please remember that the 2025 Marching Band Registration will remain live on the music website until March 4th .  After that time it will be removed and the registration closed.  Remember to register. IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL MARCHING BAND FAMILIES :   While the 2025 Band Camp and Football Game Schedule has been posted on the marching band section of the music website for some time now, we have not yet determined the dates of any marching band festivals and/or competitions, most of which take place on Saturday evenings in September and October.  This is because the dates are not yet available .   Week of February 17th - 21st... Congratulations to all the super CHS and CMS Band Members who participated in this past weekend's Ohio Wesleyan University Honor Band and Small Ensembles Concert .   There were over 70 Ohio schools represented, and Centerburg had 16 students participate!  Kudos to all!! Monday:   HS Jazz Band 7:30 -8:30 PM ( starting time change due to play rehearsal ) Tuesday:   Marching Band Staff Planning Meeting (directors, instructors and techs) 7 PM - Band Room Friday:   OWU (Ohio Wesleyan University) Middle & High School Honor Band Field Trip - Bus leaving at 7:00 AM .  Honor Band students should have printed-out their parts by now and have been practicing them in preparation for the Honor Band.  All permission slips should have now been signed and turned-in .  If you have not done so, please do it by Monday afternoon. Saturday:   OWU Honor Band Rehearsal and Concert at Ohio Wesleyan University.  The bus will again leave our school at 7:00 AM , and parents are reminded that there is no returning bus .  Students will go home with their parents following the afternoon concert. Marching Band Registration 2025

  ATTENTION: The 2025 Trojan Pride Marching Band "online" registration is "live" and was emailed to all parents and guardians via the band Google Classroom .  "IF" you did not receive the email it is probably simply because the email you have as your primary email on the Final Forms is different from the one on Google Classroom.  You can also find the Registration on the Centerburg Music Website as early as this coming Tuesday, February 4th.  Simply go to the website, click on "departments" and choose Instrumental Music , then scroll-down to "Marching Band" .  If you have any questions or concerns please don't hesitate to contact Chuck Dettmar or Anne Teschler.  Thanks!

Solo and Ensemble Reminder

  REMINDER: To all those participating in this coming Saturday's (Feb. 1st) Solo and Ensemble Adjudication that solo coaching and practice with the piano accompanist is tomorrow (Monday) at 3 PM in the choir room .  Everyone gets 20 minutes to work!  Please make arrangements to be there...and to be picked up from school when you're finished!

2025 Trojan Pride Marching Band Registration

  2025 Marching Band Registration So... Are we ready for Spring yet??? Greeting to all returningand incoming Trojan Pride Band Members .  We have sent this year's 2025 Marching Band Registration [ Google Form ] out to all parents of band members in current grades 7 through 11 via Google Classroom .  We did not send them directly to students this year.  All registration submissions are due by March 4th!   " IF" you did not receive one it may be because the email you gave the school has been changed or discontinued ?!  In any case, we will also post the Registration directly onto the Centerburg Music Website under " Marching Band ".  You may  go there to complete and submit the form.  We should have it posted by the weekend!
