Hey Band...  Super job at Saturday's Mt. Vernon Band Show.  Things are really "starting" to come together, and we're definitely on the way up!  Keep up the good work! Attention Marching Band Members:   Please go to Google Classroom and see your " AM I PREPARED?" assignment which is due at 3:00 on Wednesday, and worth 15 pts. Attention Band Members and Parents:   It is still rather hot in after school practices.  Band members are well aware that they need to have a 1 gallon water jug with them at all times, and be in the appropriate practice attire (shorts, t shirts, sneakers/tennis shoes) This Wednesday after school we will provide them with orange slices to eat before they go out on the field!   Last week they were dropping like flies, and many students confessed that they had not eaten breakfast, had no water with them, and only ate junk for lunch...We will try to help however we can...and providing some orange slices "may" help!  Attention

Marching Band Update...

Nice job last evening band!   It was messy, but I didn't hear anyone complain.  You came, you did, and you did well! ☔ Where do we go from here? 1. I will send everyone this Tuesday evening's block schedule via Google Classroom .  DO NOT MISS ! 2. Continue to review the show on both Youtube (Pyware 3-D) and on your UDB app.  Watching it over and over helps you to learn the step-offs and other holds and moves so when you hit the field it just comes to you!. 3.  Work on your moves!   Review the ones we do (Yes... in the mirror ).  While we are executing the moves and positions for the most part, it is very sloppy, and we are seeing many different renditions of them.  Remember that everything is based on 1st and 2nd positions (demis, forced arch, lunges, regular and parallel passe, etc...) 4.  Please work on music memorization .  While the majority of the band was playing we noticed a pretty big handful of individuals who did not have their music memorized...that's not help

This week's announcements and schedule:   👀 Congratulations to the marching band on their 1st week of after-school practices.  We were amazed at how much of the show from band camp you remembered over a 2 week period!  Keep up the great work! #1  Parents of Middle School Band / Instrumental Music Students :  A flyer / permission form "should" have gone home with your child this past Thursday.  It is very important that you read, sign and return the form no later than this coming Wednesday .  It concerns the new rotating music lesson schedule , and we absolutely need them handed in by Wednesday.  Thank you!   "IF" a student does not return the form by Wednesday then we will assume that the parents are in agreement with the lesson schedule and the student will be included in the instrumental groupings and the lesson rotation   .  Parents have 3 choices in this matter. Thanks!  NOTE:  I am very pleased to say that out of the 15 signed forms I've received

2024 Marching Band Registrations now due!

Just a reminder... All 2024 Marching Band "online" registrations are due by tomorrow (Friday, March 1st).   The roster will be sent to the drill designer on Sunday and changes/additions will not be able to be made after that point.  Thank you!😀 IMPORTANT NOTICE :  While we currently have 88+ marching members in the band next season, we have NO BASS DRUMS , and need to recruit some students from other sections of the band to help us out!  If you would like a new experience for a season please take a chance and try marching bass drum.  See Mr. Dettmar if you're interested!! 🥁
