Happy Summer Everybody!!!

 Hey...Marching Band Members....

and Parents!

1.  Hope you're all doing well and having a super summer!

2. IMPORTANT:  Information about the upcoming DCI (Drum Corps International) Show Marching Band Field Trip on July 30th will be sent out to you NOW!  Make sure you complete the Google Form trip registration and send in your payment so you can join us for the trip on Tuesday, July 30th!  *See the list of competing groups at the bottom of this blog update...!

3. Music Update:  Try to make a practice plan for yourselves and write down your band music goals!!! By now you should pretty much have part one (1) of Pirates pretty well down, and are starting to work on part 2.  If you need help let Mr. D. know and he'll meet you at school to teach you your parts!

4.GET IN SHAPE  The Pirates Show is full of "physical" moves and fast moving stuff!  You can do it, but not if you sit on the couch eating chips all summer!  Strengthen your lower back, legs, arms and do aerobic activities every day!!!

5.  As you've probably already seen, the marching band staff are asking all students to invest in a 1 gallon water jug (whatever color you want...Walmart online has the "Igloos") to have on the field at all times.  We need to hydrate, and that's been our biggest problem over the years!  Also, band members are required to wear shorts, t-shirts and some type of head protection (hat?).  This is a physical activity and we can no longer have students coming to camp in long pants, sweat shirts, etc...

HELP!!!...WE NEED SOME STUFF MADE... Can you help?  Parents?  Grandparents? etc...?

a) 20' x 20'  (or bigger) white tarp (or maybe tan/brown color) to be placed on the field with a giant "X" painted on it.   (X marks the spot...Aaarrrrr)  We need this to place on the field as a prop for our upcoming Pirates Show.  If you have ideas let Mr. D. know.  We can make it during the first week of camp!

b) We need a giant (5 ft. tall and  8 ft. wide] "Treasure Chest" ( we already have a "wheeled" platform to place it on) to be used as a prop. for the Pirates Show.  It can be painted black with straps around it and giant buckles in the front.  It will need to be able to be broken down flat to put in the band trailer for shipping.  Let Mr. D. know if you can help with this?!
