1. ALL School-Owned mellophones and baritones must be turned in to the band room immediately following the Memorial Day Parade. They will ALL be sent out for chemical cleaning, greasing, oiling and adjustment. They will be back by the July 22nd band camp!
2. Fall Saturday Night Band Festivals and or competitions will be decided-on and placed on the fall calendar over the summer. "IF" you are a marching band member please be wary about making weekend family plans during the fall, especially from mid September to the 2nd week of November. We may or may not be finished with marching band as of the last football game. We will post everyhting as soon as possible.
3. "NEW" Marching band members have all summer to review the online Marching Band Handbook and New Member Presentation. New members should arrive for new member orientation on July 22nd having a good understanding of those 2 things!
4. Physical conditioning. While we cannot monitor your physical activity over the summer, we strongly encourage you to get in shape. You don't need any kind of free weights, but you may want to ride your bike or swim laps frequently....also, sit-ups, push-ups, leg lifts, etc...will really help you to get in shape for the season
5. "NEW" for 2024: All marching band members are asked to have a "gallon" water jug on the field this season. Small ones run out too soon, and you'll need to hydrate frequently. Trumpet, mellophone and baritone players should also bring a small towel on which to place the bell of their instrument while not playing.
6. New Enforcement: All marching band members must come to camp and practices dressed appropriately! Sports teams have their dress protocol and so does the band... Band members must wear shorts, t shirts, good supportive sneakers/tennis shoes and some kind of hat/cap. Don't forget the sun block. Long pants, sweatshirts with hoods, crocs, slippers, sandals, etc... will not be accepted. Please dress appropriately for this level activity!
Monday Memorial Day Parade: Everyone on red band polos and khakis (shorts or long). Trailer loading is at 9:30 AM, meet at the church on the corner of Church and Harford at 10:15 AM and the parade begins at 10:45 AM. Be sure to have both the SSB and Grand Old Flag. Thanks Everybody!
