It's that "Concert" time of year!!

 Weekly Announcements  (Week of Nov. 27th - Dec. 2nd

Monday:  NO CLASSES

Tuesday:  OMEA (Ohio Music Education Assoc.) High School & Middle School Honor Band practices at Mt. Vernon HS and MS.  6:30 - 8:30 PM.  Remember that transportation is on your own!!!  Please be 10 minutes early!

Tuesday:  Classes resume (Mr. D. will not be in school - no after school tutoring).

Thursday:  After school indoor drum line and advanced percussion 3:00 - 4:45 PM

Sunday:  Annual Marching Band Awards Banquet - 3:00 PM - Cafeteria.  All marching band members eat free.  All others should check in at the table to get their serving line vouchers! Dinner will run from 3:00 until approx. 4:00 PM, but awards may begin as early as 3:45 PM.  See ya there!

Announcements:

*  Holiday Concerts:

Middle School 7th & 8th:  December 12th  Bands and choirs...performers in their music polos please!

Elementary & 6th:  December 13th:  6th graders in their music polos please.

High School Bands and Choirs:  December 18th

*  Drum Major and Section Leaders Applicants for 2024-25:  Should make Mr. D. aware of their intentions before the Holiday Break!!  Interviews and try-outs will be much earlier this season so we are better able to prepare.  Please remember that 1st time drum majors are required to attend either the DMA (Drum Major Academy) or the Music for all Summer Music Symposium Drum Major Academy.  While registration for these training clinics must be paid up front, the music boosters do reimburse approx. 1/4 of the overall cost.

*  Color Guard:  Currently we only have 2 returning guard members, and will be entering a fairly aggressive recruitment process along with our new guard instructor.    More information to follow.  The recruiting and training / try outs will begin sometime after the new year.  Current guard captains (as usual) should be willing to assist.

* Jazz Band Calendar: (All events below are currently tentative, but we ask you to please plan ahead for them and let Mr. D. know of any schedule conflicts you may have ASAP)

February 24th and 25th:  Tentative participation in this year's Beaver Creek HS Weekend of Jazz. (Possible over night stay).  This is dependent on this year's school musical schedule and how many jazz band members are involved in said musical.

March 15th:  Ashland Univ. Maple Rock Jazz Festival, Clinic and evening concert.

March 23rd:  Annual Ohio State University Jazz Band Day  (This is the Saturday prior to our Spring Break so please look ahead and let us know if you have any conflicts).  Bus leaves at 8 AM

Other Events:

January 20th:  OMEA  High School Solo and Ensemble Adjudications at Granville HS. (transportation provided)

February 8th OR 9th:  OMEA Large Group HS Band Adjudications at either Granville or Newark High Schools.

February 16th & 17th:  OWU (Ohio Wesleyan Univ. HS & MS Honor Band rehearsals and free concert.  Those accepted will be notified on their personal e-mails ASAP.
