Marching Band Pictures... and practice!
Attention all wonderful marching band members...
This coming Monday, Aug. 17th is our first evening practice from 6-8:30 PM.
It is also...
Band Picture Day! (Individual pictures will be taken between 4:30 and 6:00 PM and photo packages will be distributed at that time!)
What should you wear? Ans: If you are a returning band member who would like to wear your uniform from last season you may! BUT... if you are a new member then you should wear your red band polo and khakis. Returning members may also wear their polos and khakis if they want!
The band photo package is the same as the athletic photo package. All we ask is that students turn-in their orders to Mr. D. no later than Friday, August 21st.
PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDARS:
Marching Band 2020 activities and performances "NEW"
Football Games (all home)
9/11: East Knox
9/25: Cardington
10/2: Fredericktown
Anything beyond that point has not been determined.
Festivals & Competitions (Virtual & Live-Streamed)
Both the BOA (Bands of America) and the OMEA (Ohio Music Educator's Association) will be putting together and announcing online, virtual band competitions. Our band will simply perform our show to little or no audience and have it either recorded or live-streamed to a panel of judges for review. We will then receive feedback, ratings and scores. Also... Mr. D. "may" be getting together a group of his drum corp/marching band people to also act as adjudicators - making 3 festivals total this year. ALL PERFORMANCES WILL TAKE PLACE IN OUR STADIUM!
NO BAND UNIFORMS THIS SEASON! (Band polos and khakis only). ALL band directors in Knox County have agreed to only wear polos and khakis this year.
Finally... We still have no idea what football (or fall athletics in general) will look like this fall, but there is a strong possibility that spectators will be either limited or not permitted. We won't know until the Governor makes decisions and shares them with the health departments and superintendents. Again, we are waiting to hear exactly what the band will be permitted and expected to do!
