IMPORTANT: Recording Examples of your Assignments... (middle schoolers)!
I hope everyone is settling in and getting used to the online teaching and assignments your teachers are giving you. Hopefully you've not become overwhelmed. I (Mr. D.) because playing an instrument is a "skill-based" discipline am basically giving all middle schoolers one (1) assignment each and every week and "may" eventually add some other assignments on musictheory.net. So...
A) It's really important that you have a way to record yourself playing and are able to submit it on Google Classroom. "IF" you and your folks absolutely can't figure it out please shoot me an e-mail. At this time it's the only way for me to see how you're doing. SEE RECORDING INSTRUCTIONS BELOW!
Steps to recording and submitting to Google Classroom with an i-phone: 😃
1. Go to the VOICE MEMOS APP
2. Click the RECORD BUTTON at the bottom
3. After you're finished recording click the button again
4. To listen to the recording press the recording and then press the play button
5. After you have the right recording CLICK THE MORE BUTTON
6. Click the SHARE BUTTON
7. Click the GOOGLE CLASSROOM APP. If you don't have the app you'll need to download it!
8. Click the class and the assignment in which you want to assign the recording.
9. It will then download the page and you will be able to submit your assignment.
NOTE: You may also record on a laptop or desktop computer by making a video (Just cover the lens so it comes out as only an audio. The school does not want students submitting actual videos to teachers )
B) As we've said in earlier blogs... Everything is "up in the air" at this point as far as to the rest of the school year. We obviously hope that we'll be back and will able to do our concert, the King's Island Trip, Memorial Day Parade, Disney Trip Meeting and Marching Band registrations, but if not... Other procedures will need to be determined. Most likely online or mailed marching band registrations and online interviews with those upperclassmen interested in becoming either section leaders or field commanders.
C) ATTENTION MIDDLE SCHOOL PARENTS: In the event that we do NOT return to school in a timely as planned I (Mr. D.) will need to receive recordings of your children playing their instruments. It's the only way to help them AND to determine how they're doing. We submit everything to GOOGLE CLASSROOM and implore you to please help your child figure-out a method for recording and submitting. I know this is a burden, but it's our only way to do it at this point! Thanks for your anticipated cooperation!
D). Announcement... It is with deep regret that we needed to go ahead and cancel this year's Middle School Band and Choir trip to King's Island. We have all your payments and will return them to you upon the opening of school. "IF" there is a delay beyond that point we'll mail your payments home to you.
