Weekly Update - 9/18
Weeky Update:
1) Marching Band Schedule:
Monday, 9/18: Full Marching Band from 6:15 - 8:30 (Varsity Field)
(No Percussion Practice beforehand)
Wednesday, 9/20: Full Marching Band from 3:00 - 5:00 PM (School Field)
Friday, 9/22: Full Marching Band from 3:00 - 4:30 (School Field)
2) Mount Vernon Marching Band Festival: This Saturday! Schedule below.
5:00 PM - Arrive at school, suit-up and load trailer (Your uniform should be on - minus the jacket - when we load the buses!)
5:30 PM - Leave for MVHS
6:00 PM - Arrive and warm-up
6:50 PM - Line-up in staging area.
7:00 PM - Show begins ( we are the 5th band on )
Logistics: Tickets are $5 at the door for all spectators. Come cheer-on the band!
3) It's Middle School Band Night! All 7th & 8th Grade band students are invited to join the marching band this Friday evening, September 22nd for the home game against Highland. Middle Schoolers should wear some kind of spirit wear or school colors and report to the front of the elementary school with their instrument by 6:15 PM. The schedule for the night is as follows:
6:15 PM Meet at the front of the elementary and march in with the high school band.
7:00 PM Sit in the stands with the band and play some of their stands tunes as well as the fight song!
8:00 PM Enjoy front row - center seats for the Trojan Pride halftime show
8:20 PM Get the 3rd quarter off and get a free goodie and bottle of water!
8:45 PM Be back in the band stands by the start of the 4th quarter to continue making some noise.
End of the game: March out with the band and meet parents at front of the elementary.
After the game: Please pick up your child at the front of the elementary. We cannot leave any child unattended!!!
4) Alumni Band: Homecoming weekend ( Friday, October 6th )
We are inviting all band alumni to join us for both the half-time show ( It will be a simple block formation) and play in the stands (if you'd like). The 3 halftime tunes ( Son of a Preacher Man, Live and Let Die and Land of a Thousand Dances ) are available in the CHS Band Room, and there will be a run-through practice at 3:30 PM on Friday, October 6th in the CHS Band Room. Please RSVP to Mike Simmons. Any other questions call Chuck Dettmar at the HS at 740.-625-6055 ext 2185.
Note: Unfortunately, because the majority of our instruments are signed-out to students, we don't have many extra instruments at this time - but you can ask!
Note #2: Past color guard, drill team, flag corps, twirlers, etc... are encouraged to come along and show their stuff as well. Hope to see you there!
