Tuesday - New developments!

Please read! Here some updates for the remainder of the school year! Cancellations: 1) April 23rd Disney Trip Meeting . (We'll be in contact with you concerning logistics) 2) April 23rd Annual Marching Band Organization Meeting   (Marching Band Registration Papers will be "mailed" to all band member's homes over Spring break).   Look for them! 3) Annual Music Department Mattress Fundraiser .  (We'll just try again next season!) 4) May 3rd District Music and Fine Arts Festival. (We're trying to reschedule for a later date and will keep you updated!) Assignments:  (For middle and high school band students) Middle School Bands: After the Spring Break no further "recordings and submissions" of music will be required .  While some students were right on top of it and found it very simple others had a very hard time and we never heard from them - thus, no grades!  So... "Practice-like" assignments on band music and in method...

March 30th Updates...

Greetings all Awesome Music people! We hope all is going well with you and your families, and that you're staying on top of things and not becoming overwhelmed.  Feel free to shoot Mr. D. an e-mail just to say yo or whatever.  We're thinking of all of you and look forward to seeing you all soon! The remainder of the school year:  At this point we are supposed to return to school after May 1st .  That is the plan and we've heard nothing other than that!  Only time will tell as to what future plans are in store for us! Music Department Activities:  All music activities currently schedules "after" the "planned" May 1st return to school are a "GO" at this point.  Again, only time will tell as to what transpires between now and then.  We'll obviously keep you updated! Announcements:  😎 IMPORTANT:  Recording Examples of your Assignments... (middle schoolers)! I hope everyone is settling in and getting used to the online teaching and assignments your teachers are giving you.  Hopefully you've not become overwhelmed.  I (Mr. D.) because playing an instrument is a "skill-based" discipline am basically giving all middle schoolers one (1) assignment each and every week and "may" eventually add some other assignments on musictheory.net.  So... A) It's really important that you have a way to record yourself playing and are able to submit it on Google Classroom.  "IF" you  and your folks absolutely can't  figure it out please shoot me an e-mail.  At this time it's the only way for me to see how you're doing.  SEE RECORDING INSTRUCTIONS BELOW! What's Mr. D. doing?

Hi Everybody!  Hope you're all doing well!  I miss ya! What is Mr. D. doing? Well, besides assigning Google Classroom assignments, grading music examples and reading some "great" short band essays, I'm sorta kinda bored!  I've been cleaning the band room and filing-away music and books, looking through marching band music for next season and buying some new equipment and supplies.  Wish I was in school with everybody playing in the band!  Hopefully we'll be back together soon! 😎 Hey High School Band...  Lemme see ya get down?  No, actually... there are about 8 of you who have not joined the HS Band Google Classroom .  You need to get the assignments.  If you need the code either e-mail me or go to the previous blog post! MID-WEEK UPDATE...

Update for Band Students and families... 🔎 Mr. D. can be contacted either via e-mail at chuck.dettmar@centerburgschools.org or through comments from students on Google Classroom. 🔎 ALL current band music for all students in grades 6-12 can be found on a long table in the music hallway.  PARENTS ONLY may enter the school to retrieve the music in case a student needs it to complete their "at home" practice examples each week! 🔎  ALL band students should now have their instruments at home as they will need to practice each week and record themselves for their grades AND the school will be sanitizing all lockers so they must be empty!  THE BAND ROOM IS OPEN  and all locker combos are listed on the wall next to the locker room entrance!  Parents or guardians only may enter ! All band students should have brought home their music folders with concert music so they can practice.  MIDDLE SCHOOL WEEKLY ASSIGNMENTS WILL BE BASED ON BOTH THE STUDENT'S METHOD BOOK AND THEIR BAND MUSIC ! Weekly Update... 3/16-20

Announcements: Monday, Mar. 16th:  Classes are scheduled as usual!  Mr. Dettmar and Mrs. Culbertson will be in school all day long.  7th and 8th grade band members should pick-up their concert music before the end of the day .   When we return there will only be 2 weeks remaining before the May 3rd concert .  Many of your "home assignments" will based on the completion and recording of this band music. Google Classroom :   ALL band students from grades 6 - 12 should be checking and completing assignments on google classroom on a weekly basis.  If you need the class code please e-mail Mr. D!
