Important Announcements, Dates and Weekly Activities...Jan. 30th

Congratulations to all of our music students who participated in this year's OMEA Solo and Ensemble Adjudication Performances at Granville HS!  Super job everybody!!!

Upcoming Events  (PLEASE mark your calendars)...

Friday, Feb. 24th  at 7:00 PM St. Patrick's Day Weekend Trip Parent/Student Meeting for all student participants and their parents.   ALL chaperones are asked to please attend as there will be a chaperone meeting from 6:00-7:00 PM prior to the Trip meeting.

IMPORTANT NOTE TO ALL TRIP PARTICIPANTS:   We truly apologize for any inconvenience, but unfortunately we will need to collect $10 extra from everyone!  We had some unexpected/overlooked taxes and gratuities and well...we're a bit short.  You can turn-in the $10 at the trip meeting on the 24th of April at 7 PM. OR put give it to either Mr. D. or Mrs. Culbertson. (Please be sure your child's name is on it, especially if it's cash in an envelope).  Thank you!

Marching Band Parade Practices:  NOTE:  Mr. Dettmar and the athletic director asked all spring coaches to please let Mr. D. know the best day to hold marching band practices, but out of the 6, only heard back from 1 in a 2 week period, thus we had to blindly plan our practices.  "IF" you are in spring training or a practice you'll need to work things out with your coach so you can be at the 4-5 after-school parade practices.  Thanks for understanding!!!  The practices are listed below...

Friday, February 24th:  3:00-4:30 PM  (Indoor & Outdoor practice - Final music memorization skull session)

Friday, March 3rd:  3:00-4:30 PM  (Indoor & Outdoor Practice

Friday, March 10th:  3:00-4:30  (Indoor & Outdoor Practice)

Wednesday, March 15th:  3:00-4:00 PM  (Final Outdoor Practice)  Followed by luggage tagging, uniform preparation and shoe and instrument shining (4:15-5:00 PM)  When you are finished and have checked-out with one of the directors you are free to go home.

NOTE:  Please be sure to bring your luggage (an overnight bag will suffice) on either Wednesday morning OR have your folks drop it off for you after the Wednesday marching band practice!  Thanks.

Upcoming Spring Performances:

March 17th:  St. Patrick's Day Parade (NYC)

March 25th:  OSU Jazz Band Day  (Jazz Band)  (Mandatory for all jazz band members).

March 26th:  OSU Jazz Masterclasses Morning (Voluntary for Jazz Band Members or anyone who is a jazz enthusiast... on any instrument)!

Friday, April 14th:  CHS Jazz Festival.  (9-12 Bands + FREE dinner for student participants!  NEED LOTS OFF PARENT AND STUDENT HELP!!!!!

Monday, March 27th:  Grades 6-12 Band Concert - 7:30 PM.   6th will perform a selection with the 7/8 Concert Band & 8th will perform a selection with the HS Symphonic Band.  Soloists in both middle and high school with also be featured throughout the band selections!

Friday, May 12th: "School Day" Exchange Performances:    (More to come!)

Saturday, May 13th:  Grades 7 & 8 Band and Choir Performance Trip to Wilmington HS and Kings Island.

This Week...Jan 30th-Feb. 3rd

Monday:  Jazz Band 7-8:30 PM

Thursday:  Drum line and pit percussion 6-8 PM

Friday:  Guard parade practice 3-5 PM
