Spring is here... sort of!
Spring Update...
Congratulations to all Washington D.C. trip participants. We had a groovy time despite the cool and somewhat damp atmosphere, and the choir and band did outstanding performances in front of the Jefferson Memorial. Thanks also to all our parent chaperones and to Lucas Weiss for accompanying the choir on piano!
Spring Percussion Training: Wednesday, April 10th from 7:00-8:30 PM in the music area. Everyone should have received an e-mail update from Mr. D. IF you are planning on marching this season then you must be present at the Wednesday evening meetings. These practices are for both drum line and pit percussion.
Mattress Sale Meeting: Come out to the CHS Auditorium at 7 PM on Tuesday, April 16th for a quick sales pitch! If we get at least 70 people in attendance the band and choir get an automatic $500.00!!
Marching Band Mailer: Marching Band Mailers were recently mailed home. Please read the "NEW" marching band handbook and return all other items by the April 25th Marching Band Organization Meeting in the auditorium at 7:00 PM. If you have any questions please contact Mr. D. ASAP. We need an exact count of who is marching BY April 25th! Thanks!!
Utica Jazz Festival: Is slated for April 12th. The CHS High School Jazz Band will be performing. Come out, have some refreshments and cheer them on! Utica HS Cafeteria beginning at 4:30 PM. CHS takes the stage at 6:00 PM.
Annual CHS Marching Band Organization Meeting: Thursday, April 25th at 7:00 PM - CHS Auditorium. ALL marching band members and at least one (1) parent / Guardian must attend. A sign-in sheet will be provided.
ATTENTION BAND PARENTS! The marching band needs to form a parent "PIT CREW" for this year's marching band. We've outgrown having only student volunteers. PLEASE contact Chuck Dettmar ASAP if you'll be able to travel with the band to football games, festivals and competitions this fall. We'll only need you on the weekends! We'll even give you your own baseball cap that says "CHS Band PIT CREW" on it!
Mattress Sale: Saturday, April 27th marks the date of this year's Mattress Fundraiser! Come on out, get that new mattress and support the music department! There will be a parent meeting in the auditorium on Tuesday, April 16th tp present the sale. If we get 70 parents show up we get an automatic $500.00 check to the music department! So... just show up!
Spring Fine Arts Festival: Sunday, May 5th from 5:00 - 8:00 PM in the CHS Gymnasium. Great performances from all music ensembles from elementary grades through high school. High School band awards also given during the evening. Massed band (grades 5 - 12) as a grand finale so please remain for the entire festival. We are currently meeting to put together the order of performances. Information will be given ASAP!
Fall season marching band practice schedule: Has been altered from last year! Monday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 PM will be considered our "big" practice as there is almost nothing scheduled at that time. Wednesday afternoon practice will begin at 3:30 PM and go until 4:45 PM. This later start time is necessary so all our Career Center and Nazarene students have a chance to get to practice. We have about 15 of them! 3:05 - 3:30 PM will be utilized as sectional / field set-up time to review music and to get the field ready for the start of practice.. STUDENT ATHLETES AND CHEERLEADERS NOT PRESENT AT THIS REHEARSAL!
