"Late" Winter Update

OMEA Performance Reminder: High School Band should report to the school library by 10:00 AM this morning (Saturday, March 3rd). Our performance time is 11:15 AM. Performance attire is "black & white"! See you there!
Annual Marching Band Organizational Meeting: Wednesday, April 25th at 7 PM (auditorium)
( This is a yearly MANDATORY meeting for ALL students and at least one of their parents who will participating in next season's marching band). There will be a brief "updated" slide show followed by individual student meetings to determine what supplies and/or equipment will be needed for band.
NOTE: Parents may pay for their child's marching band costs at this time!
March 8th Concert: Featuring both the 7th /8th grade and high school choirs and bands is on Thursday, March 8th at 7:00 PM. Middle School students are asked to arrive by 6:30 PM and high school students by 7:00 PM.
Attire for all students is: Black and White
"Step-Up Instrument" Demonstration/Presentation and Parent Meeting/Fitting Times:
On Friday March 5th Mr. John Bell, our representative from Pellegrino Music, will give a presentation to the high school band during 9th period. He will then leave a number of semi-professional and professional model instruments and mouthpieces with us to try-out of the next 2 weeks, culminating in a Parent Meeting between the hours of 5:00 and 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 20th where parents and their youngsters will be able to sign-up for 15 minute meetings and fittings to see if a "Step-Up" or better quality instrument is a possibility.
NOTE: There are two reasons for this; 1) Many times the instrument that was given to the student way back in 5th grade is really not playing as well as it should, literally holding the student back from their true musical potential, and 2) Intermediate and Pro-Model Instruments are made better, play better, hold (or increase) their value and enable the student to realize their true potential on the instrument!
Middle School Band & Choir Competition Trip to Kings Island:
On Friday, May 18th the 7th and 8th Grade Band and Choir will be performing in the Trills and Thrills Music Festival. They will perform first for a panel of judges at an area college and then spend the day at Kings Island Amusement Park. All paperwork has been distributed and should have reached home by now. Permission slips, Medical forms and the first $25 payment are due no later than March 15th. If you have any questions please contact one of the music faculty.
Music Booster Mattress Sale Fundraiser !!!
Parent Meeting at 7:00 PM on Tuesday, March 20th (following the step-up instruments meetings)
"if" we get 70 parents to attend we get an automatic check for $500.00!!!
