OMEA Solo and Ensemble Adjudications at Granville HS
Saturday, Feb 3rd
Bus leaves CHS at 7:00 AM - Permission slips and soloist ($18) fees now due.
Concessions available during the day
Families and friends welcome to observe performances
7th & 8th Grade Band & Choir Evaluation Festival & Fun Day at King's Island
Friday, May 18th
Buses will leave by 7:00 AM and most likely return around 11:00 PM
Cost per pupil is $44 ( includes festival and park entrance fee.
Students will need to bring money for lunch and dinner.
Watch for an informational letter to be mailed home to parents.
Denison Concert Band Clinic (field trip): The high school band will attend a field trip to Denison University on Tuesday, February 20th. Students will be back in time for buses and after-school activities. The band will be performing their required selections in preparation for their upcoming OMEA Adjudication in March, and will be receiving critique and clinic from some well known professionals in the band world. Students will have lunch in the Denison Cafetria (buffet-style) at a cost of $8.50 pp. following their clinic.
OMEA High School Large Group Adjudication Performances (mandatory):
HS Choir: Friday, March 2nd
HS Band: Saturday, March 3rd
(OMEA Large Group Performances take place at Centerburg High School. If you "know" that you are also involved in another activity on either of those 2 days PLEASE notify your director NOW so the appropriate time slot may be requested.)
March Concert: Thursday, March 8th - 7th & 8th grade bands and choirs, high school band and choir as well as selected small ensembles and soloists.
Utica HS Jazz Festival: Saturday Evening, March 17th. First band takes the stage at 5 PM!
Everyone is welcome to come watch! Plenty of concessions!

High School Jazz Band performing & receiving critique and clinics
Bus will leave CHS at 8:00 AM

Jazz Improvisation, part playing, soloing, etc...
If we have enough register we'll go by bus!
$30 per participant

Spring Concert: "NEW" First-Ever District-Wide Fine Arts Festival!
Sunday, May 6th
6:00 PM
All musical ensembles from grades 4 to 12! Concessions available all day. Stroll-around the artwork done by our talented students when not watching performances!
Should be a super event!
High School Jazz Band meets every Wednesday afternoon from 3:00 - 4:30 PM Students enrolled in jazz band class are required to attend!
Middle School Jazz Band meets every Monday afternoon from 3:00 - 3:30 PM. Players who are also involved in sports teams must attend jazz band until 3:30, when they are dismissed to their sport.
6th and 7th Grade Instrumental Music Lessons & Required Bi-Weekly Performance Examples: All 6th and 7th grade band students are scheduled for one (1) group music lesson on their instrument on a rotating basis during the 3rd period intervention time slot. Lesson groups meet every 2 weeks and students have assignments (on Google Classroom) they are responsible for. Playing examples must be performed the week they are due, and need to be completed before leaving for home on Friday afternoons. If you have any questions please contact Mr. D.
Hey Percussion Students...
The world renowned percussion duo "Maraca2" will be giving a concert at Denison University in Granville on Friday evening, February 2nd. at 7:00 PM. The performance will take place in Burke Hall on the Denison University Campus. Check it out. I hear they're awesome!
School Music Assembly...
The "Fifth House" Ensemble will be performing two school assemblies for CHS and CMS on Friday, February 16th. The program is comprised of an interactive modern composing technique that will include the entire student body, regardless of their level of music expertise. Assemblies are at 9 AM and 10:30 AM.
Indoor Winter Percussion: Will now meet with Leah Dunbar from Kenyoun Univ. on Mondays after school.
