Weekly Update 1/3/2016
Happy New Year!
Well, here we are in 2017, and we're jumping in with our feet running! Please remember to check both the Music Department Blog AND Facebook each week so you are kept up to date with what is happening in the music department.
Please read below!
6th Grade band: There will be no more performance examples due until next marking period. That doesn't mean you shouldn't practice, though!
7th and 8th Grade Bands: Beginning 3rd marking period you will be responsible for checking your bi-weekly ( that is, one every 2 weeks!) assignment on Google Classroom, practicing the example(s) and recording them to be reviewed by Mr. D. on Google Classroom. Grades will be posted on Power Teacher only!
High School Band: Your Performance Tests are due on Google Classroom by this Friday (that's in only 4 days!!!) This is a 100 point grade! You can also play it "live" in the band office this Friday during period 9 or during a study hall if you'd rather!
OMEA Solo and Ensemble Help/Coaching: is available every Tuesday and Friday afternoon at 3:00 PM. Take advantage of it! OMEA Solo and Ensemble performances are on Saturday, Jan. 28th!
Jazz Band: Will continue to practice every Monday and Wednesday 3-3:45 PM.
Middle School Jazz Band: "NEW" sign-ups will begin today and are located on the white board in the band room. We cannot guarantee that everyone will get-in, but it's worth the try! Practices will begin in 3rd marking period on Thursday afternoons from 3:00-3:45 PM. ( First practice is Thursday, Jan 19th )
Pep Band: Our next game is next Thursday, Jan. 12th! (Girl's Home)
Disney Trip: Rooming and Bus list sign-ups will be posted momentarily. Start talking to your friends to see how you'll put your room together. There MUST be 4 students to a room! No exceptions!
Disney Parade Music: Will be distributed (and start to practice) this week. Music MUST be memorized!
2016-17 Marching Band Registrations: Believe it or not, we're beginning to make decisions on next year's show music. Please start thinking about band for next season as Mr. Parpart will be calling you down soon to put together your classes for next year! A "tentative" marching band questionaire will be distributed momentarily so the staff "can get an idea" of who we we'll have in band next season. We have a "super" Freshmen class coming up and want them all in band with us!
2016-17 Marching Band Expenses: Marching band expenses will NOT increase for next season, and will hold steady at $75.00. This is for the dry-cleaning / supplies and equipment cost. All incoming freshmen and new members will need to attend the annual marching band meeting in April and will need to bring-along at least one (1) of their parents. Marching band expense payments for dry cleaning, band polos, shoes, t-shirts, etc... WILL be accepted at the end of the meeting. ALL MARCHING BAND PAYMENTS MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE PARADE AT END OF JUNE! After that date the marching staff will not be back at school until the start of band camp in August!
Fundraiser Spaghetti Dinner: The Centerburg Music Boosters will be hosting their "biggest" fundraiser of the year on January 26th. The fundraiser spaghetti dinner will be held in our own cafeteria, and will feature solo and ensemble performances by many of our talented students! Bring the family, enjoy some great food and entertainment and help support the Centerburg Music Department! More information to follow shortly!
