Weekly Update 12/5/2016
Week of December 5th - 9th, 2016 Announcements
Concerts:
High School Band and Choir: Monday, December 12th - 7:00 PM
Grade 7 & 8 Band and Choir: Tuesday, December 13th - 7:00 PM
Grades 5 & 6 Band & Choir: Thursday, December 15th - 7:00 PM
ALL concerts take place in the Centerburg High School Auditorium.
Concert Report Times: ALL students should plan on being at school by 6:30 PM for tuning and warm-up.
Concert Attire (What to Wear):
The general rule is black & white -
Ladies: Black skirt or slacks with black dress shoes, white blouse OR black dress.
Gentlemen: Black slacks with black dress shoes and white button-down dress shirt with tie.
NO SNEAKERS
NO JEANS
NO DANGLING EARRINGS
NO SANTA HATS
Concert Bake Sales: We will be holding major fundraising bake sales at each one of the holiday concerts. We ask that all band and choir members please bring in some baked goods to be sold at the concerts. If at all possible, please try to package your items so they're easy to sell! Thank you!!!
Pep Band: Starts tomorrow - Tuesday, Dec. 6th ( First game )
Practice in the band room at 6:00 PM
Set-up in the gym at 6:45 PM
We stay for the entire game.
If you signed-up we expect to see you there!!!
High School Performance Exams:
ALL individual student recordings or "live" playing tests are due by Friday, January 6th. Performances are to be recorded and attached to the high school "Google Classroom". Chair placements for OMEA Large Group season will be posted on Monday, January 9th! Good Luck & Have a nice holiday break!
Solo and Small Ensemble Day: is on Saturday, January 28th! If you are a participant who has a particular time constraint due to another activity the same day please tell us NOW so we can schedule you without conflict!
Finally... Beginning in the 3rd marking period (2nd semester) 7th and 8th grade band students will have examples out of their technique books in which they will need to work-on and share with Mr. D. on "Google Classroom". Playing examples will be on a bi-weekly basis and will be worth 10 pts. each time. The grading category will be under "homework" as it is the work they accomplish on their own, outside of the band rehearsal/class!
