Graduation Band : The CHS Graduation ceremony is slated for this coming Saturday, June 4th at 1:30 PM .   All high school band members in grades 9, 10 and 11 should report to the bandroom at 1:00 PM and find their seat in the gymnasium by 1:15 PM for warm-up and tuning.  Music to be performed will be Pomp and Circumstance (graduation march) and the senior selection Carry on Wayward Sun.   Appropriate  attire is required! As a band member, participation in graduation band is a very important end of year tradition, and is of utmost importance.  Students who experience a schedule conflict must see Mr. Dettmar ahead of time with a note from a parent explaining the conflict in order to be excused!  Thank you for your cooperation. Change in Battery Practice... Congratulations to all our talented track and field participants on making it to the finals.  Because so many of them will need to miss the final battery "drum line" practice this Wednesday evening, we've all decided it might be best to hold the practice on Thursday evening, May 26th instead!  While we apologize for another change, we were just notified of our finals eligibility, and have no control over the state athletic calendar!!! Attention "PIT" percussion people... Your practice is still on for this Wednesday night at 7 PM !  See you there! 

Memorial Day Parade Logistics: The 2016 Centerburg Memorial Day Parade is slated for Monday, May 30th .  The parade steps-off from the Centerburg Post Office at 10:15 AM and makes it's way to the cemetery where the presentation begins at 11:00.  The band will perform the Star Spangled Banner and You're a Grand Old Flag / My County Tis of Thee . 9:15 AM     Load band trailer at CHS 9:45 AM     Meet at Centerburg Post Office for warm-up/tuning 10:15 AM   Parade Steps off 11:00 AM   Ceremony at cemetery Marching band members will be dismissed from the cemetery and meet back at the high school to unload the trailer and TAKE THEIR INSTRUMENTS HOME TO PRACTICE THEIR DISNEY "Fantasmic"SHOW MUSIC OVER THE SUMMER! 

Just a reminder... Tonight (Tuesday, May 17th) is the High School Music Department Awards at 7:00 PM , preceded by the Disney Trip Meeting at 6:00 PM.  Both events will be held in the school cafeteria.  As is tradition, all award ceremony attendees are asked to bring along a dessert to share!   Disney Trip Meeting :    For all ( high school only ) music students who will be in grades 9-12 next school year! Marching Band Fall Practice Schedule Monday & Friday afternoons - 3:00 - 4:30 PM - Full Ensemble Tuesday & Thursday afternoons - 3:00 - 3:45 PM - Percussion Battery and Pit Friday - 3:00 - 4:15 PM - Full Ensemble, followed by dinner, uniform check, etc... Announcements and Updates... #1   Marching Band Payment Notices were sent electronically last Friday afternoon, and partial payments are due by Friday, May 13th .  If you did not receive a notice or had a problem opening the notice please let us know right away.   We will send home a "paper copy" as well for the next payment as there are a few wrinkles in the system, not allowing everyone to view their payment forms.  Please be patient as we correct these "wrinkles"!  Thank you.  #2   The two (2) remaining marching percussion clinics/practices are scheduled for Monday, May 16th and Monday, May 23rd.  While we'd like all the  marching percussion or "the battery" to be present on the 16th, everyone (pit percussion included) are required to be at the May 23rd clinic.  Start time is 7:00 PM and we end at 8:30 PM. #3   Who marches in which parade?  For Memorial Day we will include any student who participated in marching band this past season.  For

Announcements and Updates... 1)   Payment #1 Financial Statements for student marching band supplies and equipment will be e-mailed tomorrow (Friday, May 6th).  This payment is due by Friday, May 13th. 2)   The rehearsal time for the June 24th marching band parade practice has been changed from 9:00 AM - 12:00 Noon to 2:00 PM - 5:00 PM. 3)   We will hold bake sales at all three concerts next week.  Students should either bring in their baked good to the band room during the school day or bring it directly to the bake sale table in the auditorium lobby when they arrive for warm-up at 6:30 PM. 4)   Review of Spring concert dates and times:      *  High School Concert - Monday, May 9th at 7:00 PM      *  7th and 8th Grade Spring Concert - Tuesday, May 10th at 7:00 PM      *  Elementary and 6th Grade Spring Concert - Thursday, May 12th at 7:00 PM 5)   The Centerburg Memorial Day Parade is scheduled for Monday, May 30th.  All current high school marching band members are req

Marching Percussion Battery Clinics: The Percussion "battery" consists of: Snare drums Bass Drums "Marching" Cymbals  and Quints Attendance at all clinics is not necessarily mandatory, but is suggested, as we teach proper i nstrument carriage, sticking and mallet technique and marching style .  We then begin with some basic warm-ups , drifting eventually onto a particular instrument and beginning to work on some easy cadences and street beats .  By the last Monday evening practice on May 23rd we will begin working on the Disney Show !  See you there!
